The URL that got you to this page is a persistent and unique identifier (i.e., a URI) for an Esri ArcGIS Server REST API resource specification. The URL is used, per the FGDC’s NGDA Metadata Guidelines, to uniquely identify the “application profile specification” (i.e., the API) for an online and consumable instance of an ArcGIS Server Map, Feature, or Image resource (i.e., web service endpoint), wherever one is referenced in CSDGM, ISO, and POD metadata documents. Using the URI in metadata allows software to automatically and reliably distinguish the type of ArcGIS Server resource.
